CCTV System types
When it comes to CCTV, there are basically 2 system types to choose from – conventional or IP. However, with the advancement in technology high definition images can now be seen over standard coaxial cable.
If you already have a CCTV system with standard coaxial cabling already installed, it is now possible to install high definition cameras utilising this cabling (dependant on cable length and cable quality).
The most common cable type for an IP CCTV system is standard Category 5 (Cat5) cabling. Where properties already benefit from this type of cabling infrastructure, it maybe possible to utilise your existing cabling and IT network. In this instance, network bandwidth would need taking into consideration.
CCTV cameras tend to be recorded to 1 of 2 types of recorder, Digital Video Recorder (DVR) or Network Video Recorder (NVR). Both recorders are capable of recording high definition images to integral hard drives. The size of the hard drives determines the quality and storage longevity of images.
Whether DVI, TVI, AHD or IP, all cameras and systems can be viewed remotely via a wired network and/or wireless transmission.
BeeSafe Fire & Security can install a wireless link with a transmission range of up to 10Km (line of sight required). This link can also be used as a wireless access point for computers or other networked devices.
